The Continental Club
Just across the river from our Rainey Street Condominiums is the world-famous Continental Club. An Austin landmark since 1955, the club has live music every night of the week. The Continental hosts both music legends and up-and-coming artists from many genres, including swing, rockabilly, country, and blues. Music luminaries Robert Plant, Buck Owens and Stevie Ray Vaughn have all graced the stage at the Continental, while Genre-bending bands like the Robert Kraft Trio and The Lost Counts also find their way to the Continental’s stage on a regular basis.
The Moody Theater
The Moody Theater hosts the incomparable Austin City Limits tapings. This PBS series is the longest-running music series in American television history. You can catch artists as varied as Jethro Tull, Taj Mahal, The Gipsy Kings, Miranda Lambert and more. This comparably small, 2,700 seat, theater makes for an intimate experience with acts that often play much larger venues. This gem is only a 20-minute walk or 10- minute ride from 70 Rainey Street.
One of the iconic 6th Street’s live music venues, the Parish stands out for booking bands of exemplary quality. Whether they are new or well established, you can rest assured that you are going to enjoy the show. The Parish’s sound system and skillful sound engineers make all the difference. Imagine seeing Pete Townsend in a 450-person venue. It could (and has) happened at Parish.
The Elephant Room
Voted the best jazz club in Austin, the Elephant Room is a cozy basement bar dedicated to stand-out jazz performers. They have 20+ beers on tap, and the club features live music seven days a week with shows generally beginning at 9:30 each night. Located at 315 Congress Ave in downtown Austin, the Elephant Room is a 15 to 20-minute walk from our Rainey Street Condominiums.
Austin Symphony Orchestra
Currently in its 106th season, the Austin Symphony Orchestra is nationally recognized for excellence. The symphony boasts over 80 musicians and often includes large choral ensembles. Comparable to any big city orchestra, the ASO offers full seasons of concerts as well as family-friendly Christmas and Halloween shows. They are housed in the modern Long Center for the Performing Arts, a gorgeous multi-use venue designed for superior acoustics. Located at 701 W Riverside Drive the symphony is well within walking distance.
