Austin Events We Can't Wait for in 2018
South by Southwest (SXSW)
South by Southwest (SXSW) is scheduled for March 9th-18th in 2018. If you don't know about SXSW, you are really missing out; it's a huge celebration of music, film and the interactive industry, and people come from all over the United States -- and all over the world -- to experience it. There's an educational conference with top speakers from the industry, a huge festival, tons of exhibitions, lots of live music and so much more. Whether you're involved in the industry or if you're just looking for a good time, you're sure to find what you're looking for at SXSW.
Rodeo fans and those who love music or just plain good food are sure to have a great time at Rodeo Austin, which is hosted from March 10th-24th, 2018. Of course, you can watch lots of exciting rodeo shows, or you can attend the stock show to see horses, cows and other livestock for sale. There is also a fair planned with rides, games and more for the entire family, and there's a great line-up of live music planned. Over the 15-day event, there will be more than 100 live music performances, including performances from top names like Josh Turner, Ludacris, Gladys Knight, Dwight Yoakam, Tracy Lawrence and more.
Urban Music Festival
If you are a fan of hip-hop, R&B Reggaeton music, then you aren't going to want to miss the Urban Music Festival. Scheduled for March 30th and 31st, the Urban Music Festival for 2018 features a line-up including multiple artists and groups, including En Vogue and Johnny Gill.
Austin Reggae Festival 2018
The 2018 Austin Reggae Festival is a must-visit for those who love reggae music. This year, the Wailers are scheduled to headline the event, but there will be many more big-name and small-name acts to enjoy. Once again, the event will raise money for the Central Texas Food Bank; last year, it earned a whopping $1,000,000 for the food bank, which was used to help families in and around Austin in need.
The Austin Food & Wine Festival
The Austin Food & Wine Festival is scheduled for April 27th-29th, and it's the perfect event for those who love food and drink. You can enjoy cooking demos, tastings and seminars with leading industry professionals from Austin, or you can just sample tons of different foods and drinks. There will be book signings, live music and more, so there's a little something for everyone.
Keep Austin Weird Fest and 5K
One thing that many people love about Austin is the fact that it is made up of a community of unique individuals. If you want to embrace that, perhaps run in a 5K and even support the Central Texas Food Bank, you'll want to check out the Keep Austin Weird Fest and 5K on June 23rd.
Austin City Limits Music Festival (ACL)
The Austin City Limits Music Festival (ACL) will be held from October 5th-7th and October 12th-14th, just when the weather is starting to cool down a bit from the hot Texas summer. At the Austin City Limits Music Festival, you'll find out why Austin is often called the live music capital of the world, and you'll get to experience a diverse lineup of more than 140 bands on eight stages, across two weekends. No matter what type of music you're into, you're sure to have a great time. Plus, there's an Art Market for shopping, lots of spaces for taking selfies and even a mini-fest for the kids.
Austin Film Festival
The Austin Film Festival is scheduled for October 25th to November 1st. The film festival will feature 180 different indie films and there will be Q&A's and other features for industry professionals or just those who are interested in the world of film.
