Vibrant downtown Austin offers a plethora of interesting activities and destinations: from historic sites and museums, to outdoor adventures, live performances, and world class restaurants, it's hard to decide what to do first. Just steps from our downtown Austin condos, you’ll find plenty to do to keep you entertained - 70 Rainey puts it all at your feet. Here are some exciting sights to see within walking distance of our downtown condos:

Texas State Capitol

Take a free guided tour of one of the nation's most respected capitols. Visit the legislative chambers and public areas, learn about the architecture and building's history, and admire the rotunda and soaring dome. Pay special attention to the "echo" in the rotunda, which greatly magnifies sound in specific places. Specialty tours, such as Women in Texas History, Heroes of the Texas Revolution, or seasonal favorites like October's "Rest in Peace," November's "Bravest of the Brave," or December's Holiday tour, give an informative and detailed look at special topics or areas of interest. If you visit on one of our beautiful Texas days, enjoy the green lawn surrounding the capitol. It’s a great spot for a picnic lunch or rest in the shade.

Mexican Cultural Center

The MACC, located within the historic Rainey Street district is "dedicated to the preservation, creation, presentation, and promotion of the cultural arts of Mexican Americans and other Latino cultures." Visit its two galleries featuring Latino/a artists, take a variety of cultural arts classes for both adults and children, and participate in special events including Viva Mexico, Dia de los Muertos, and Sor Juana Festival.

There are so many options for museum-goers! History buff? Visit the Bullock Texas State History Museum to delve into the Texas story. Art aficionado? The Mexic-Arte Museum features fine examples of Latino and Mexican artistic and cultural artifacts and representations. Looking for something out of the ordinary? At the Museum of the Weird expect the unexpected at self-proclaimed "America's Strangest Attraction." Literature lover? Look into the life of William Sidney Porter at the O. Henry Home and Museum.

Lady Bird Lake

Get outside and enjoy nature! Circling 10.1 miles around Lady Bird Lake, Lady Bird Hike and Bike Trail is the prime spot in Austin to walk, jog, or ride a bike. Kayaks, rowing shells and stand up paddle board rentals can be found in Zilker Park, as well as several other boat rental outfitters. Lady Bird Lake sits just outside your back door at 70 Rainey.

Paramount Theater

Austin is practically synonymous with live music, and The Paramount Theater is largely responsible for the birth of the live performance scene. Just a short walk from our downtown Austin condos will bring you to Austin's original performing arts venue. With live theater, music, film, and lectures, you'll find something engaging at the Paramount.
